Why are you committed to ECCE & ECAB?
As President of the Portuguese Society of Biotechnology and Chair of the DownStream Section (DSP) of ESBES, I am strongly committed to ECCE/ ECAB and CIBIQ 3 because these congresses play a crucial role in driving innovation and collaboration across chemical and biochemical engineering. They provide a unique forum for bridging academia and industry, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue, and addressing pressing global challenges such as climate change, sustainable production, and the transition to a bio-based economy. Hosting these events in Lisbon is not only a significant milestone, but also a strategic opportunity to showcase Portugal’s growing leadership in biotechnology and applied sciences.
What do you hope participants will take away from ECCE/ECAB 2025?
I hope participants leave ECCE/ECAB 2025 not only with new scientific insights and professional connections, but also with a clearer understanding of how chemical and biochemical engineering can contribute to building a more sustainable and innovative future.
This congress is a unique space for interdisciplinary exchange, where researchers and industry leaders from Europe, Latin America, and beyond can collaborate, share challenges, and spark new ideas. I also hope it inspires participants to strengthen ties across borders and disciplines.
And just as important, I hope everyone enjoys the richness of Portuguese culture—exploring Lisbon, tasting our gastronomy, and experiencing the warmth and hospitality of our people.
